Vintage Hair Inspiration: Veronica Lake

hair, Inspirational Images, veronica lake

My hair mood changes daily (last week I had an Austrian milkmaid moment) so my hair inspirations have to be quite varied in general. I was sorting through some of my books the other day and realised that a photo of Veronica Lake in a ‘Film Goddesses’ book I was given many moons ago, with her hair draped over a bearskin rug, must have been quite influential for me. She’s like the proto-Roxy Music girl, non? I have no intention of going blonde any time soon, unless I can magically get this nasty L’Oreal stuff out, but I do enjoy occasionally waving and side parting my hair….

My parents used to call me "Veronica Lake" because my hair would always cover one eye — but MY hair was never ever as glamorous as the real thing!

Neither is mine, but it's definitely something to aspire to! Your hair is much shinier than mine though, I'd have to drown in serum to get the Lake-look properly (it's more like the final picture of her brushing it out right now…)

She definitely had the most gorgeous hair ever- and it's probably the only hair I covet that is possible for me to achieve. The other night I tried to backcomb my hair into a bouffant and it was complete and utter failure- so I ended up putting in a really deep part and some quick waves with the curling iron and it ended up being a pretty good facsimile! Thank God, as it was looking pretty atrocious before…

is she the one they mentioned on Style On Trial that got introuble for going against the war effort? For "encouraging" women who should have safe hair in the arms manufacturing industres to have long hair that they couldn't see out of? LOL!
