Inspirational Images: The little match girl

Inspirational Images, mr freedom, seventies fashion

No idea who took this, who the model is or who she’s wearing. I’m going to hazard a guess at Mr Freedom, but feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.

I’ve scanned it from David Bond’s 1981 Guinness Guide to 20th Century Fashion, which has many luscious images within. Very few are given any kind of credit beyond who owns them. And I doubt those photo agencies exist any more. This is all too often the case with books of such vintage, sadly.

Oh, tell me about it – I found a fashion photograph of my FABULOUS (and so atypical!) early 50s Digby Morton dress on the cover of one of those books, and of course – same problem – NO way of finding out where the image came from or where it was originally published! Spoke to the author and apparently she was given a box of photos to pick stuff out of, and just went for pics she liked a lot, no way of knowing where they came from/ were published originally…!So. Argh. FABU rare, rare, rare dress, documented in an original image – and no way of knowing where the soddin' pic came from originally!!DMC

Thanks everyone!! Always very glad to post gorgeous new images for your delectation!Smashingbird: There's a cheap copy on eBay at the moment, item number 270473921041DMC: It's even the same problem with some proper photo agencies online. Found a fab picture of the PVC Varon in red, no photographer credited or date given. I think it ended up in the Bates book as well, but clearly without those details. Again.

I think the model in this photograph is Linda Keith. Girlfriend of both Keith Richards and Brian Jones of the Rolling Stones. It looks very similar to another photo of hers that I found at "The Beautiful and the Damned" website.
