Every so often, the lovely person who runs this small tribute to Noosha Fox manages to unearth some new single covers. This may not seem terribly exciting to other people but, considering the dearth of images of the lovely Noosha, it’s a bit awesome really. There’s also an incredible, high quality video of Fox performing Only You Can on Top of the Pops over on Youtube which I have embedded at the bottom of this post. I know a few of you adore her as much as I do, so I thought I ought to get around to sharing!

The Cold Shoulder
disco, glam rock, lee bender, seventies fashion, website listingsWhere’s all my one-shoulder-loving-ladies? I’m afraid I couldn’t resist the temptation to give Roxy a bit of a Farrah-flick, in memoriam, when I put this super groovy striped Lee Bender top on her.
It’s quite a transitional period piece really. It can move quite happily from glam rock to disco with a mere change of trousers and shoes, and music of course. Now available over at Vintage-a-Peel for a foot-stompingly reasonable £38. Just click the image to view.
Fashion Icon: Noosha Fox
1970s, alison goldfrapp, fashion icon of the moment, glam rock, noosha fox
Please don’t all cry out ‘who???’. Noosha is a little gem of an icon of mine from the mid-late Seventies. Born Susan Traynor, and originally from Australia, she changed her name to Noosha Fox and the glam band ‘Fox’ were formed around her. Her look was very heavily influenced by the starlets of the Twenties and Thirties. She wore floaty chiffon dresses, swishy capes, fringed shawls and flowers in that ringletted bob. Her make-up was a glorious mix of blue eyeshadow-ed Seventies-ness and that flapper girl cupid’s bow pout. And oh! that adorably squeaky, Helen Kane-inspired voice. She’s like a silent movie star taken out of her time and plonked on the set of Top of the Pops.
It’s fairly safe to say that Ms. Alison Goldfrapp has taken rather a healthy dose of inspiration from little Noosha. I love how unique and seemingly unspoilt her performances are. Someone who would never be a star nowadays, due to her slightly awkward dancing and facial expressions. But I adore her. She’s just so cute, and her clothes are delicious (being both very Seventies and also very antique-looking), and, and…..the songs are amazing. I have no idea what you look like now, or even what you’re up to, but Noosha – I salute you!!
It’s been tough to find enough images of this icon to fill the space, so I would highly recommend your looking at some footage of Fox on YouTube.
And speaking of sparkly boots…
boots, glam rock, platforms, Things I wish I owned
Oh major lustlustlust moment here…..sadly not my size. But I would gladly own them just to put them in a glass case and worship…is that weird?
Beautiful Bolan, Awesome Alkasura…..
1970s, alkasura, glam rock, marc bolan, Things I wish I ownedI thought my Bolan jacket was something else. Then I saw this beauty, currently listed (probably with whopping great big reserve, quite rightly) on eBay.

Not only is it a Marc Bolan-worn piece, it’s also by Alkasura – whose pieces are the sartorial equivalent of hens teeth.
If some millionaire wishes to purchase this piece for me, I’d be very grateful!
Get It On…
1970s, british boutique movement, glam rock, marc bolan
Super rare piece of Glam Rock memorabilia from the early Seventies. This frankly awesome jacket is externally pretty fabulous with its yellow and purple panels and bright yellow buttons. The silhouette and colour scheme is very reminiscent of Mr Freedom pieces, and its definitely a manufactured piece, but sadly any label it may have had is no longer there.
The real excitement comes from the inside though. The repeat print of Marc Bolan is just so vivid and so fabulous I can’t even put it into words. If you’re a Marc/T-Rex fan – you absolutely need this jacket. It’s a rare piece of early Seventies fashion, and a rare slice of pop history!
Over at eBay (alongside some other incredible goodies, including Miss Mouse, Ossie Clark and Bus Stop!)
