Oh major lustlustlust moment here…..sadly not my size. But I would gladly own them just to put them in a glass case and worship…is that weird?
Things I wish I owned
For Queen and Country: Rayne Shoes
emma peel, shoes, Things I wish I ownedI find I have become quite, quite transfixed by these shoes just listed on eBay. They sort of look like they should be hideous. In the wrong hands they would have been hideous. But they’re not hideous. They’re beautiful. They’re green, they’re silk, they’re diamante.

Rayne shoes were of a very high quality, being shoemakers to the Queen and all that. Mr Rayne also made the shoes Diana Rigg wore in The Avengers. So you know you’re getting something good with Rayne.
They’re also about a size too small for Miss Muggins here, but please someone with 5½ feet buy them. I can’t promise you won’t be so transfixed that you’ll find yourself staring down at them all the time and keep bumping into people, but it’s probably a price worth paying.
Another pair of scrumptious shoes I can’t wear…..
1970s, platforms, Things I wish I owned
Actually I’m not even sure I could wear them if they were my size. I’ve tottered around in some mighty platforms in my time, but none so mighty as these. They’re completely adorable though, in a messed up goth-y glam rock Minnie Mouse kind of way, and I love the little feature at the front where the platform sole is rounded so you can rock forward a little. A cute detail which makes it marginally easier to walk in them, but I would still need a taxi driver and sedan chair on tap if I had any hope of not falling over.
Size 3 is just obscenely enviably tiny. Buy them. Teeter around your house in them and just enjoy having tiny feet and gorgeous shoes!
Some eBay Picks
1970s, emma peel, eye candy, platforms, Things I wish I ownedDamn my big feet and head…..here are a couple of fabulous pieces which will never fit me but I would kill to own. Please buy and enjoy them!
I always become obsessed with hats in the winter. Sadly I only have a handful (and only two vintage) because I have quite a large head. Graduation day was entertaining I can tell you. I will post my two beloved hats at some point, a floppy felt number in aubergine with teardrop cut outs (very Biba) and a green suede Emma Peel hat by Edward Mann (who actually made the Emma Peel hats, so it’s a proper one too!!). If you ever see a great vintage hat with an inner measurement of about 23-24″, then give me a shout! I’ll probably want it! This one, the seller tells me, is a slightly stretchy 20″. But I’m not sure it could be 3-4″ stretchy!!
Ossie where’s your troosers?
fulham road clothes shop, ossie clark, Things I wish I owned, zandra rhodes
I really want to see these sell, and sell well, because the temptation is unbearable. I’m a girl who loves high waisted flares, and I love the idea of vividly printed trousers in a reverse of my normal statement top-half. And these are a Celia print Ossie, there’s no more delicious statement than that. They’re the kind of Ossie Topshop are unlikely to bastardise with their Celia collaboration (I’m not sure even the uber trendy Daisy Lowe-lookalikes who shop there are ready for these babies).
So why don’t I buy them? They’re my exact size, even down to the inside leg (yes, I want to cry!) Well lack of funds for one thing, but on a point of principle I shouldn’t buy another vividly printed pair of crepe high waister flares until I’ve worn my existing pair. Which aren’t Ossie but they are a rare Fulham Road (Sylvia Ayton and Zandra Rhodes for the uninitiated) pair in Zandra’s early, and legendary, lipstick print. I’ve been itching to wear them for ages but they’re white, and they’re tight……so they still await a perfect opportunity, and one where I’m unlikely to spill things down them.
I also have a tendency to bust zips on Ossie trousers and skirts; most recently in Liverpool when I realised that Tapas and ultra tight corset satin trousers with old metal zips do NOT mix well. [Probably as well they broke before I left the hotel, otherwise the excitement of seeing Duran Duran may well have made them pop while I was at the gig.]. So another skintight pair of Ossie kecks may well go the same way, unless I refuse to eat for 48 hours before wearing them, and that would be either cruelty to vintage or my stomach.
So pleaaaaase, someone else buy them, wear them, send me photos and enjoy them so I can enjoy them vicariously and feel so envious that I eventually just CREATE an event to which I can wear my Fulham Road pair!
Right: Quick and rubbish photo of the Fulham Road ones…[Odette is having a day off – plus the lighting is shocking today!]…what you can’t see are the red ties which tie around the back. They came from the same lady as the chiffon top and trouser Ossie set you can see on my website, but those trousers don’t fit me at all. Darnit!!!
Beautiful Bolan, Awesome Alkasura…..
1970s, alkasura, glam rock, marc bolan, Things I wish I ownedI thought my Bolan jacket was something else. Then I saw this beauty, currently listed (probably with whopping great big reserve, quite rightly) on eBay.

Not only is it a Marc Bolan-worn piece, it’s also by Alkasura – whose pieces are the sartorial equivalent of hens teeth.
If some millionaire wishes to purchase this piece for me, I’d be very grateful!
