L Love, love' love'em! If only I could find some originals. Blimey if you feel too old what on earth am I doing in them? The first pair I wore were in around 1969 and were "Ladybird" burgundy corduroy with a bib and braces with an applique butterfly. I found some in brown with a bumblebee on the front at a car boot sale and nearly wept.I bought some leopard print hot pants from a shop in Barcelona at the back end of the 80's and was wearing them when I met Jon. I wonder what happened to them? xxx
Vix, I thought you might love them! It's weird, I don't ACTUALLY think that anyone is too old for hotpants. Ever. But sometimes when I'm looking at myself in a mirror, wearing something skimpy, I just get an attack of the 'I'm too old's. Which is silly, and I'm always at my happiest when I can ignore that voice! ;)I would love to see those butterfly and bumblebee ones!!
Loovvve this spread, soo fab to see some universal witness pieces! I have just bought a pair of biba hotpants, and haven't braved wearing them yet (I also feel I might be too old!), they are cream so I was thinking chunky knit/lace tights and knee boots….
What a fun post! Of course with your wit – you can make anything sound fun. I am really enjoying your blog! I was a long-legged pre-teen and teenager in the 70's, so I'm sure I had at least a few pair of hotpants (and they probably even looked hot on me). I don't have the personality (or the legs) to be able to pull off wearing hotpants in public anymore. But I'd be happy to prance around the house in them for a boyfriend. 🙂

What a fabulous spread. And these hotpants look far more respectable than the denim cut offs I see the teens running around in today.I once wore a pair of hotpants to a hip hop themed party and for months after, when I walked around the suburb of that party, people would still call after me 'hey, hotpants'. I will say though that I was only 24 and ran a lot then, so my legs looked far nicer than they do these days.

Although I’m a regular reader I haven’t posted here before (too shy!), but I couldn’t resist pointing out that the Diane Crawshaw for Mr Freedom hotpant suit looks like it could be the same one as Sally from Middle of the Road is wearing in the ToTP video for Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep (also 1971).http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HSNSTerj2KcIs there anything I wouldn’t do to get my hands on that outfit?!
