Purdey Fragrance

1970s, celia birtwell, joanna lumley, ossie clark, Random Ossies in Adverts, Vintage Adverts, Vogue
Carlo Dini has created Purdey Perfume. A Perfume in the timeless French tradition, made for the exciting woman of today. Purdey for the woman with style.

Joanna Lumley giving me the New Avengers and Celia Birtwell-print Ossie Clark crossover I didn’t know I needed. I would dearly love to know what this smelled like, if anyone can remember please let me know!

Scanned from Vogue, January 1978.

Get into Blue Moovies

1970s, Deco Inspired, Honey Magazine, Inspirational Images, interior design, interiors, jeans, Moovies, Random Ossies in Adverts, Vintage Adverts
Straight Jeans, Straight to you.

Moovies is the big new name in denims and needle cords.

One of those delicious advert photos I just want to dive into. Not least to grab that Ossie Clark dress hanging off the back of the chair!

Scanned from Honey, July 1978.

Unseamly tights

1970s, Barbara Miller, Inspirational Images, ossie clark, pretty polly, Random Ossies in Adverts, Vintage Adverts

Another in my irregular series of random Ossie Clark sightings in adverts. This time a wrap around Cuddly dress, made from a crinkle pleated crepe with satin trim.

I think the model is Barbara Miller.

Scanned from Cosmopolitan, March 1975.

Somebody, somewhere, said it was a wedding or something

1970s, Advertorials, Arthur Hill, cosmopolitan, jim lee, ossie clark, Random Ossies in Adverts, Vintage Adverts

A curious but beautifully shot advertorial from a copy of Cosmopolitan, which I think is meant to be advertising the drink but is also rather a charming portrayal of a bohemian Seventies wedding. Unsurprising given that Jim Lee is behind the photographs, and also featuring a couple of Ossie Clark dresses, which I’m always happy to document.

Photographed by Jim Lee and Arthur Hill for Blanc Foussy by Grants of St James’s.

Scanned from Cosmopolitan, August 1974.

“Whatever she selects has taste…”

1970s, alice pollock, british boutique movement, cosmopolitan, ossie clark, quorum, Random Ossies in Adverts, Vintage Adverts

Obviously I do not condone the message as regards the product being advertised here, but what an amazing, ephemeral capture of the Quorum boutique window with Ossies on both the model and the mannequin (‘Bridget’ and ‘Cuddly’ respectively). I also think that might possibly be the ghostly figure of Alice Pollock in the background.

Scanned from Cosmopolitan, November 1973.

Random Ossies in Adverts: California by Max Factor

1970s, Make-up, nova magazine, ossie clark, Random Ossies in Adverts, Vintage Adverts

It’s been a while since I’ve done a ‘Random Ossies in Adverts’ post, so it was high time I found another one. Bottom left, definitely one of my holy grail pieces.

Random Ossies in Adverts: Part IV

1970s, ossie clark, Random Ossies in Adverts, Vintage Adverts

I knew there was another one! From 1972…

Random Ossies in Adverts: Part III

Random Ossies in Adverts: Part II

1970s, Make-up, ossie clark, Random Ossies in Adverts, Vintage Adverts

I think that printed dress turns up in several adverts spanning several years. I’m assuming one photographer or stylist had the dress and just plonked every model in it when they needed a ‘floaty’ look. I shall scan further examples in when I can!
