It’s party time! And there are lots of slinky, exciting numbers around. So all you Christmas sophisticates get moving. Add tops to simple, sleeveless dresses and Hey, Presto! You’ve doubled your party outfits. Search around street markets for strips of exotic fabric — wind them round your head or drape them around your shoulders. Go wildly Eastern by wearing satin pants and sexy, close-fitting blouses. Use a little imagination and transport yourself (and escorts!) into a fantasy world. Can you hear Middle-Eastern music? You’re in the land of The Thousand And One Nights.

Extra special for a special season — some of the most outrageous party clothes to be seen since the golden days of Hollywood and the silver screen left us open-mouthed in amazement. The Sundown, Charing Cross Road, WC2, is where to find glamour 1972 style — that’s where we took clothes, models and hairdresser Michael Strum from Crimpers. It was amazing too, why not try it some time?

This autumn there are bags everywhere: Oxford ones on your pins and clutch ones in the hand. The return of the straight trouser has brought with it wing lapelled jackets with padded shoulders and neat waistcoats. Underneath, a feminine touch to soften the butch look, blouses with floppy painters’ bows. And don’t forget your clutch bag tucked neatly under your arm.

Cotton and cord going to any lengths with pants… soft lawn with tiny prints for shirting and some of the very newest skirts. And we’re giving you ideas about what spring’s all about!

Always lovely to see the West Pier here in Brighton, in all its glory two years before its closure in 1975. For those not familiar with it, the West Pier has had a very sad and protracted demise since then and only the skeleton remains, stranded out at sea. Thankfully, its prettier heyday was well-documented on film and in shoots like this.
